Cal is at his most comfortable indoors — a couple of beers within reach, the Coast Guard channel crackling in the background, and a few private tabs open on the side. He’s washed up at the low tide of America and perfectly content there.
Role in the story
Nervy habits like his enjoy company, but Jason has ambitions Cal doesn’t share. Still, his knack for catching the right radio chatter at the right moment makes him a steady supplier of tips and early warnings.
